Not much to say about SL’s new Windlight viewer, which I use now all the time, except:
Before:

After:

My friends’ group Stability Now! has been pushing Linden Lab (well, if they even notice us pushing) for grid stability, something that CEO Philip Rosedale has promised for the year ahead. Despite what gamers rightly say about the “lame” graphics in SL, they suddenly got an order of magnitude better for those of us with fast computers and connections.
As broadband speeds increase and LL adds more servers and services, will the cyberlibertarian, free-for-all metaverse of SL become as stunning, graphically, as it is, creatively?

Tenchi, blame not the tool for the lack of new ideas.
It’s like SL fashion: convergence and copying. Pretty sunsets are the stock-and-trade of RL photographers too, and they are easy prey for the novice.
In time, as with SL itself, creative folk will tap SL’s power to do great things with Windlight.
To be honest I am sick of windlight already. When you look at the gallerysites you will find out that most pictures are windlight sunsets at the beach with an avatar randomly posing. I think that windlight is rather killing creativity on the grid then promoting it (at least at the moment). People took far more care on there pictures, when they had to put some brain into it to get decent results.
Now the pictures tend to be more like a burger at mc donalds ... everytime the same no matter where you go. This is good when visiting a fast food restaurent but not when looking at pictures.
Wow, that’s a stunning contrast! I hope LL gets its act together, like you said, because the possibilities are endless.
