On a day when one of our guest writers, and this blogger, were featured in a YouTube film by Cecil Hirvi, tragedy struck the Sage of Enoch Holler, our guest-writer Pappy Enoch.

This reporter has learned of a series of terrible events that led to the death by hanging of Pappy, who has long claimed to be a real person somehow stranded in the virtual world of Second Life.

I am investigating details in-world, but Second Life is down for maintenance much of the day today.  Apparently, Pappy had been to a region called Tombstone, a Wild-Western town like its namesake in Arizona, where Second Lifers role-play Western life and have gunfights.  Pappy and a cousin of his, Ms. Cynthia Barley, were in the streets of Tombstone when an altercation occurred, and Pappy was wounded by a pistol shot.  He and Ms. Barley escaped further harm, but I have learned, from an unnamed source, that Pappy was later jailed and then hung by parties unknown. The photo shown was sent to me by e-mail.

I will not let this pass without some explanation and legal action. If, however, rival moonshiners or others outside the law are involved, the Enoch clan has vowed swift vengeance “on the base haids an’ hides o’ them-thar rascals,” The Rev. LuciferLee Enoch told me, by instant message.

The Rev. Enoch will hold an in-world memorial service, once Pappy’s body has been located.  Well-wishers may leave condolences at Pappy’s Web Site.

Pappy may only be a virtual person, but he is also Cecil Hirvi’s “Celebrity Sighting” this week, in the new film. I’m in this too as Cecil’s “Cool Person of the Week,“ but my excitement is tempered by the cruel end of poor Pappy, my friend and, in all things hillbilly, mentor.

Fare thee well, Shiner. I’ll see you in the holler beyond the Pearly Gates.

I still don’t believe it.

My outrage of this calamity knows no bounds! 

Armed with a set of Soviet-made grenades in my left hand and a mean-ass Cager in my right, I intend to avenge this injustice in the worst way!

I shake off the “better angels of my nature” as I hunt down the perpetrators with absolute prejudice!
